‘YUVA GATI’ – Centre for Advanced Dance Training
Yuva Gati Centre for Advanced Dance Training is an initiative of the UK Government’s Department of Education under its Music and Dance Scheme (MDS). There are 9 Centres around the country offering training in Ballet, Contemporary and Urban style.
The South Asian strand of this training is called ‘Yuva Gati’. The Centre managed by DanceXchange in partnership with Sampad Arts in Birmingham is the only national centre for the South Asian Dance strand which offers training in Kathak and Bharatanatyam style to students across England.
Yuva Gati programme provides dance training to young people passionate about dance and exhibit potential to develop it further as part of their wider education. It is aimed at young dancers who are in the age group of 11 to 16 years, although they can continue training up to the age of 18. The programme enables them to realise their talent and make informed choices about their future involvement in dance and equip themselves with the necessary skills for professional dance training and / or further education.
The aim of this programme is to support students who aspire for higher levels of commitment to the art, and to develop into a holistic, well rounded dancer so that they are able to make informed decisions about their careers and their life.
